Have you ever heard about them? 
Did you notice how often they are used in movies, series, books, etc.? 
How many of them are you familiar with?

Common English Idioms in Everyday Conversation

These English idioms are extremely common in everyday conversation in the United States. You will hear them in movies and TV shows and can use them to make your English sound more like a native speaker.

The only way to become confident in using idioms is to put them into practice as much as you can. Click on each activity to accomplish the purpose of this lesson.

Activity 3: Matching

Instructions: Click on the picture below, and log in with your email. Watch the video if you need to watch it again, and after that, match the idioms with their correct meaning. At the end, please do not forget to submit the activity


Activity 4: Multiple Choice

Instructions: Click on the picture and write your name. Read the sentence carefully and choose the best meaning of the idiom used in the sentence. You are allowed to start and practice this activity as many times as you want.


Activity 5: Matching

Instructions: Click on the picture and write your name. Drag and drop each idiom to its definition. You are allowed to start and practice this activity as many times as you want.


Activity 6: Short Story 

Instructions:
- Click on the picture and complete the sentences using the words and phrases in the box.
- Read the text. Fill in the gaps with the correct phrases. There is one extra phrase.


Activity 7: Listening & Comprehension (Dialogue)

Instructions: Listen and read the dialogue about idioms. As you listen to it, read the Google Docs attached, and fill the blank spaces using idioms of the parts of the body.
